What is Reiki and how does it work?

Reiki is a Japanese technique for stress reduction and relaxation, which also promotes healing and health. The word Reiki is made up of two Japanese words, Rei means “God wisdom or the higher power” and Ki which means “life force energy”. Ki is what an acupuncturist manipulates with needles. In Reiki, Ki is manipulated and transferred by the hands of a Reiki practitioner.

We all have healing energy in our bodies and when that energy is low or blocked we feel sick, either physically or emotionally. Reiki works to move and increase that healing energy to create increased well-being and relaxation. The process is safe and gentle and non-invasive, sometimes involving gentle touch and sometimes with the hands off of the body.
